Default What To You When Your Original Referees Are Dead?

Hail and hearty huzzahs to the collective brain trust!! As my thread title says...how do you get around the problem of ,having been away from an academic setting from an academic for 19 or so years, finding people willing to give you references?I'm so desperate to start my studies that I'm even willing to consider institutions of "marginal luster" that do not require them!!!Does anyone know of any good CJ/Homeland Security programs that don't require them? Thanks!!!

Are you referring to letters of recommendation?? What level are you looking? Graduate or Undergraduate?

Scaredrain !!! My hero!! I am indeed referring to that very problem!I'm looking at studying at the Master's Level and ,while my possible referees are okay with personal/character references, none of them wish to comment on my academic suitablity for grad studies. Any ideas would be very welcome!!

Try AMU/APUS, they do not require references and they have programs in both the areas you are looking for:

Tuition just went up there to $300 per credit but they include books also. Most of your for profit institutions do not require references either: Walden, Capella, Devry, Strayer, Kaplan etc...put their prices would probably put you off.

Fort Hays has a really cheap Masters in Liberal Studies with a concentration in Criminal Justice:

I think they require recommendations but you can normally get these from friends, you do not necessarily need a past employer to write you a recommendation. In fact I have written college recommendation letters for former students to get into graduate schools.

I have found that normally executive programs require employer recommendations.
