Default Low Cost Accredited EdD in Education

Hello. I have been researching online accredited EdD Programs in Education that are cost-effective. Any tips on schools that meet the criteria? (I have an MA in Education and MS in Rehabilitation Counseling form an accredited university). Thank you so much.

You can pick through these at Jonnie's Distance Leaning Page:

http://www.geocities.com/siliconvall...386/dlphd.html

There might be something there.

Also check out state universities within driving distance of your location. Often local schools are cheaper than distance programs.

Default Try these...

I took a brief look at some US schools ---

Lowest-cost accredited Ed.D. in the US (that I know of) is a school that I've liked for a long time, due in part to their Great Books approach. That's Harrison Middleton University, College of the Humanities and Sciences, www.chumsci.edu.

The school is Nationally Accredited (DETC). Cost? $16,500 all-inclusive, per their web-page. I checked two other DETC favourites, Andrew Jackson U. www.aju.edu and Columbia Southern, www.columbiasouthern.edu Neither school offers an Ed. D. and neither does California Coast U., www.calcoast.edu another good nationally-accredited distance-ed university.

I checked an RA distance school that I thought might be among those most reasonable in cost. North Central University (I mean the distance school in Prescott AZ, not the Pentecostal one in Minneapolis) www.ncu.edu offers an Ed.D. with about 14 specializations. They say the cost varies according to what you bring with you, in graduate study credits. Tuition is $525 per credit hour and the "typical" cost for the entire program, including dissertation fees etc. is given as $29,000.

I'm sure:

(a) Cost-wise, you could do better than ANY US Regionally Accredited school by getting your degree from South Africa.
(b) You already know this and it's likely you have already looked at what's there, if a degree from SA appeals to you.

Hope this helps.

Johann

California Coast U says they are working on an EdD which they hope to have in place by the end of 2008. Just be sure that a DETC accredited degree meets your particular needs.

Thank you for all your input. I guess what I am asking is are there any international schools you are aware of that offer an EdD or PhD that would be recognized in the USA and is reasonably priced? (Yeah, I am very simple-minded in trying to fish this information).

Any ideas? I appreciate all your help.

Default Ideas? Yes...

Hi -

As I said before, you can do better fee-wise in South Africa. Distance fees for a Ph.D. run maybe $1,800 - $2,500 a year. - A fraction of what you'd pay in the rest of the world. The degrees would be recognized in the US - and anywhere else I can think of.

Australian fees tend to be lower than those in North America, but they're not nearly as low as South Africa.

You're likely to have to take a short trip to South Africa every year -- but even after plane-fare etc., you're still miles ahead of most North American programs, cost-wise.

You can start surfing from this list:

Wink Hey Tedmeister

Hi Tedmeister,

I think that is best not to respond to each spam message. After the second thread with the spammer's response, I know it's spam and I don't bother to look. When members see your name we check to see what you said. That wastes our time and drives up the hit counter - encouraging more spammers. I think it's best to respond once - preferably in a seperate thread - as as I did with this same @#!!?&# guy. The moderators will soon get around to removing the spam and blocking him.
