Hi,
Actually I wanted to improve my Education; I am a Post Graduate (MA) in Political Science and have few years teaching experience. I heard through this forum that Some African Public universities provide accredited online education with low tuition fee. I think with Political Science degree we can go for any Social Science Doctorate degree. I have found one online public university UNISA in South Africa . Dear Forum, Please give me a chance to update my knowledge if you know any other public Online University in African countries that offers doctorate degree in social science subjects with Low cost and short time. Thanx |

Hello Niha, I am not sure if any other university, except Unisa, in Africa offers Distance Phd. Unisa's fee is almost US$ 1,700.00 per year and you need minimum 2 years of registration to complete the degree. How can we say the African universities are law cost. Why don't you try to US universities if you can find accredited school there.

Sir,
This is the reason I am looking for another University, If you have to pay US equal fee , spent 2 years and a lot of hassle than why don’t we go to the US universities, but my problem is that I have limited budget to do this. Hope we have genius mind at this forum and I believe some one would be able to find cheapest program. I just read your previous post. Scaredrain, Tedmeister, Johann , Mathew and some other members are real researcher and helpful . I am trying myself to find any information out and will share with the forum. |

I believe the UNISA doctorate is thesis only so a couple years could be saved on coursework. Go through these guys: http://www.iaci-canada.com/about_us.php Last edited by Dennis Ruhl : 02-17-2008 at 08:14 PM. |

I agree with you Dennis. Most American PhDs that are low residency or distance learning are in the $20,000 to $50,000 range, of course some cost more than that, thats a rough average. I have not seen any political science doctorates in the US that are online or distance learning. The nearest type of degree is either in public policy or public administration. The South African Universities are a very very good value at $1700 because normally with some of the distance learning doctorates in the US, you pay that per class. |

Scaredrain, You are right, American Phds cost more than that.In Asia we still think 3400 US dollar is very big amount to spend at once to the study, I know you guys who live in US, Canada or in Europe, think the amount is not big just like 2 months salary but here $3400 is saving of years.
I am trying if I could find anything cheaper. |
