Hi Nachu!
Yes - CalCoast is a very good school (Nationally Accredited, DETC) and likely one of the least expensive routes, if you're doing distance-study at a U.S. school from your home in the Middle East. I don't know how widely-accepted DETC accreditation is, in your part of the world. Maybe you know, or somebody local could advise you. It seems outside the US, it's OK for some places/uses and problematic in others. CalCoast tuition is $130-odd per credit-hour. That's low, by U.S. standards. Ashworth University www.ashworthuniversity.edu has a lower tuition rate - $80 per credit hour and has the same (DETC) accreditation, but I have hesitated in the past to recommend them, for one reason. Nothing against their quality, but in the forums etc. I've seen complaints about customer service and response-time issues with Ashworth. Maybe they've solved this now - I don't know.... Distance courses are almost the same cost as Ashworth's at www.lsu.edu (about $81 a credit-hour vs $130-odd at CalCoast) and the school is Regionally Accredited, which (quite likely) means wider acceptability. Trouble is, I don't think there's a way to put together an entire distance degree from LSU. Right, they say as much on their website - I just checked. Studying at LSU and credit-banking the courses at www.excelsior.edu or www.tesc.edu could be a real hassle from overseas and yes, the additional expense might negate what you'd save at LSU ...so I guess we can pretty well rule that route out... Here's an idea - you can get a good, properly-accredited (SAQA, CHE) degree by distance for HALF the CalCoast cost (or maybe a little less than half) in South Africa. Start at www.unisa.ac.za Perhaps even lower in cost (and one of my favourite recommendations) is Multimedia University in Malaysia. They're at www.mmu.edu.my and I've seen work by grads from here - extremely high quality! They teach two distance business degrees (both Bachelor's) for an incredible $47 per credit hour! Worth every single ringgit and pataca! One-third the cost of the best-available deal in the U.S! Malaysia has VERY good standards, particularly in business and high-tech and I'm pretty sure their degrees will be acceptable in your country - but PLEASE CHECK LOCALLY! Sorry guys - had to s***est these overseas schools and no, I'm not on UNISA's, MMU's or anyone's payroll.
