Hi -
I thought it might be useful to make a file of the URL for lists of recognized/authorized degree-granting schools for as many nations as possible. We've got a HECK of a list of unauthorized/unaccredited schools, so maybe the reverse would be useful! I'll start it off: Australia: http://www.aqf.edu.au/register.htm Canada: http://www.cicic.ca/664/directory-of...-canada.canada USA: www.chea.org lists all recognized accreditors. Each accreditor generally lists its member schools. Pakistan: http://app.hec.gov.pk/UniversityFina...niversity.aspx India: http://www.ugc.ac.in United Kingdom: http://www.dfes.gov.uk/recognisedukd...Cate goryID=1 lists all recognized degree-granting schools United Kingdom http://www.accreditedqualifications.org.uk/index.aspx All accredited awarding bodies and their awards, with corresponding NQF levels - contributed by Baraban South Africa: http://www.che.ac.za/links/links.php Click on the institution type you require a list for. Many Countries: http://www.interactive.jpa.gov.my/we...ainIktiraf.asp Terrific Malaysian Gov't link added by "Highlander" Norway: http://drift.uninett.no/kart/norgeskartet/index.php Thanks to JohnDoe for the link! Unesco: http://portal.unesco.org/education/e...CTION=201.html Many countries. Thanks again to the research of JohnDoe! Hong Kong http://www.hkcaavq.edu.hk Hong Kong Council for Academic Accreditation Hong Kong http://www.hkba.org Hong Kong Bar Association (Thanks to DLG for these 2!) Russia http://www.russianenic.ru/english/cred/ Thanks to Baraban for this - another really useful one! Keep posting any others you know - I'll add and acknowledge them! Dear Johann
I believe this link should cover the universities and university colleges in Norway. http://drift.uninett.no/kart/norgeskartet/index.php Just click on the map for the respective university/university college. All should be equal to RA accrediation. The main difference in Norway between a university and a university college, is that to be recognized as a university, you have to be able to offer students at least 4 possible Phd degrees.

I was kindly asked by Johann, after submitting my link to the accredited Norwegian universities and university colleges, if I could contact somebody in Norway in relation to a postulated Norwegian on-line university.
http://nnu-edu.com/Index.htm Johann provided me with useful information, and I thereafter sent a mail to the Norwegian Minister of Higher Education. Today I received an answer from one of the senior advisers at the department. Since the answer may provide information beneficial for this discussion forum, I hereby provide a translated version of the received answer. This answer may serve as an indication of the official “attitude” of the Norwegian Department of Education. “Hello, and thank you for your mail. It is good to hear that there are networks of students who do this kind of research. We have already been informed about the university that you mention (+ another one that claims to be Norwegian: http://www.norwayuniversity.eu/ ) Unfortunately we are not able to do something about these net-sites since they are not Norwegian, but we do however appreciate being notified about fake “Norwegian” institutions. Who knows what we will be able to accomplish in the future. Please feel free to send information about such institutions to the department, and to NOKUT (National unit for quality in education). Internationally there are networks of legit quality assurance units that make public lists of accredited institutions of higher education. UNESCO has recently launched a pilot project (Norway is a part of this) to initiate a portal where one can find such “approved lists” from the member countries. (That is: Institutions that are accredited by a national authority. We do not speak about any international accreditation). The portal, as per now, contains information from 18 countries (including the larger exports of education) – but the primary goal is to develop the portal so that it includes updated and quality assured information from all 192 member countries. http://portal.unesco.org/education/e...CTION=201.html Since the list already contains the large education exporters, it should be useful for students who wants to investigate these matters further. In addition to this UNESCO and Ford Foundation have recently employed an international group of experts who will look into the problem related to mills and fake degrees. The goal is to establish international guidelines to prevent the operation of these institutions. NOKUT will also soon go to court with a concrete case against one individual who has used a degree from a mill. If NOKUT wins this case, one will soon be able to diminish the market for fake degrees from mills. With regards Tove Lyngra Senior advicer The Norwegian Department of Higher Education
