Is your country one of those where essay writing (selling/ buying) business thrives? If so, why?

I am not sure if it thrives here. But I do know of a couple of people that have used their services. Me, I tend to stay away from them.

I've heard of this, but of course I have never used it. I have to wonder about those people who worked their butts of to get their Masters of PhDs and then write essays for extra cash.

Hi -
We all know the situation in North America - my side of the border and the U.S. anyway. Loads of term-paper sites, hawking "guaranteed A's" to the lazy and the stupid. We constantly hear of the anti-plagiarism software professors use to help detect "bought essays." It's almost like an arms dealer selling to both sides in a war! Many (otherwise) very smart students, hurting for money, accept payment to write essays for their wealthier, lazier and/or stupid classmates. I've even known a small number of very intelligent high-school seniors who have made extra money by "ghost-writing" second-and-third-year college essays. Good marks, too - mostly around A-minus, from what I've seen. Johann Last edited by johann : 10-06-2007 at 08:29 PM. |

I imagine India with its English language
and low costs compared to the 'western' countries have educated people that could compose an essay. It would be away to make a comfortable living but it would be an underground service. It might be useful As a foundation but I would like to revise it to reflect my views using the knowledge I have gotten in my own research Last edited by SKYBIRD : 10-19-2007 at 11:18 PM. Hi!
Where have you been hiding, Skybird? India's essay-trade is alive and kicking, NOT underground at all! It's as blatant as anywhere else! Check out www.vibranture.com! Besides MBA entrance essays they say they offer "high end essay-writing, term paper and research article writing, etc." They call themselves "the best in India." So I guess their competition at www.essaylabb.com must be the second-best! It looks like academic dishonesty (including using others' essays "as a foundation" for your own Johann Last edited by johann : 10-20-2007 at 06:38 PM. |

Had I know that I would hit such a sensitive nerve I wouldnt have mentioned
the possible temptation of taking shortcuts. I really didnt know that India was so blatant in this scheme. If I did need this academic assistance I would have known. I guess knowing this a person may be pleading guilty of academic trickery.... |

Hi
India has more English-speakers than any other nation on Earth. They also have a middle class of over 100 million and likely about eight or nine times that number who WANT to be in that class. They have some VERY good schools. So good, in fact, that they've eaten the West's lunch already on at least one front - computer programming. There are thousands upon thousands of guys who live by writing VERY good code for their Western customers - and who can do it for under $10,000 a year and live quite well -drive a Maruti, maybe, eat well and live in better digs than many of their countrymen. Is it any wonder then, that many BAD schools have also sprung up there , holding out false hopes to those whose present educations preclude them from joining the middle class - and who are painfully aware of that fact? Is it any wonder that India experiences the same types of academic dishonesty as the West? Or that term-paper sellers prosper there? Just as in the West, there are plenty of people - some desperate, some lazy - who are looking for a quick fix. Skybird, if you know of a country completely free of this type of academic dishonesty, let me know. Wherever the need for them is seen, the vultures start circling... Johann |
