Dear friends,
Some corporations build their own University like GE, Motorola and even the China Li Ka Shing, Cheung Kong University. Are these corporate Universities legal to grant degree?
I note some Association like Oxford Management grant the Certified Doctor. Do anybody knows what that is?
All courses schools and universties .. even if they are not incoporated are allowed to grant a degree.
Now is the degree legal you need to check the accreditation.
NOW here is the part you should beware of.
Make sure the accredation agency is known in your country if you are in the U.S go to www.chea.org (http://www.chea.org) if not then you have to do your own research.
Also beware that the coporation or company which awards you the degree did not build a fake accrediation agency.
Anyways good luck.

I am not convinced that the coporate universities you mention even suggest they will issue a degree. Motorola for instance offers training in Six Sigma but offers not credential. GE established an in house training program for GE managers and leaders but, to the best of my knowledge, has never suggested that they would issue a degree. Interestingly enough these two organizations are a good argument for legitimate unaccredited institutions since graduates from their programs are highly desired.
I have only found oblique references to the China connections you mention. For instance I find a Cheung Kong School of Journalism here
( http://www.stu.edu.cn/eng/facilities_5.asp ) and a reference to Li Ka Sing here ( http://www.hku.hk/facmed/ ) and both of these seem like legitimate universities who are able to issue degrees.
The references I find to Oxford management ( http://www.oxford-management.com/main.htm ) indicate a training company. They do not suggest they offer degrees and certainly I could not find a reference to Certified Doctor.
So now we get to the problem. You are asking a question that cannot be answered because you do not provide references. If you attach some web addresses the board can then have a look and give you some meaningful feedback.
