When I first started looking for a distance learning program, I noticed there was some variance from one program to the next on how many credit hours you could take per block or semester. Is this still the case? What do you consider a reasonable number of credit hours to be persuing at one time?

I had to take at least 12 hours to be considered full time and 9 was 3/4 time and 6 was half time. I usually took 12 or 15 depending on how the hours were set up with the classes.

I try to do 12 hours, but it really depends on how my life is shaping up for a current semester. Sometimes I can only do 9.

I only manage to eek out two classes at a time per semester, so that's 9 units and considered half time.

I'm hoping to go full time, or 12 hours - atleast in the long run. I may have to start out at one class and work my way up to a full schedule. I've kindof got my plate full right now.

I'm not able to go full time while I'm working. OKay, maybe I would be able, but I don't want to... it's too much work! I'm taking 9 credit hours right now, and it feels like a heavy load to me while I'm working full time.

It depends on the classes. When I was finishing my thesis, I only took two hours, but I was working on my project non stop and didn't have time!
With kids, I can only handle six hours tops before I stop enjoying the ride and start yearning for the end of the semester.

My first quarter of my seniour year I took six classes (for a total of 24 hours). It was a full few months, but worth it. My last quater I started class at 3 pm on Monday and was through by 5 pm on Wed (and my earliest class was a 3 pm). I lived just a few minutes from the beach, so my final quarter of school was quite a party time!
