On Dec. 5, 2006, the Arizona Republic published an article which stated that computer giant Intel Corporation will no longer pay for business courses taken by its employees at schools which lack accreditation by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). The University of Phoenix (Phoenix, AZ) and Strayer University (Arlington, VA) both lack this accreditation. According to the article, other large corporations are expected to follow Intel's lead.

I'm not surprised, why would they want to pay for something that they might not be getting. By not paying for unaccedited schools they have a better chance of getting the employees they are paying for.

Hi -

Please remember - these are not "Unaccredited" schools at all. Both mentioned have Regional (Big 6) accreditation, but lack the AACSB which is the preferred (by many) business-school accreditation.

I'm ok with Intel's decision - I just didn't want anyone to get the idea that UPhoenix or Strayer were totally "Unaccredited" because they're not. They just don't carry the top-notch business-school accreditation (AACSB) that Intel (and other companies, I'm sure) want their employees' schools to have, if they (Intel) are going to be footing the bill.

Cheers :-)
