Hi... my first post...

I am currently investigating online degrees to fit with my work schedule... I have done considerable research but I can find little about Aspen University... I know that they are formerly ISIM University and they say the are "Nationally Accredited"... but I can find few references or reviews of the school and its history/programs... Its not on the Mill lists... Their tuition is very reasonable - $9k for a masters... but from now until the end of December they are offering a full program for $4200.00 if you pay up front... sounds almost to good to be true... and you know the saying... so I am suspicious... if legitimate, it is an excellent price...

I've reviewed their curriculum and texts and almost all cross-reference with other colleges/universities offering similar programs...

Can anyone offer any insight into Aspen University???

Thanks in advance...

Jer

Hi -

I've only heard good things about Aspen - and quite a few of them.
As you say, they are nationally accredited by DETC - you can verify this on the DETC site - www.detc.org

I'm sure there are threads about Aspen on www.degreeinfo.com and there may be some on www.degreeboard.com and www.degreediscussion.com.

As an interesting sidelight, I believe one of my personal heroes, Michael Milken has/had ties to Aspen/ISIM -at least back in its earlier days. I'm not sure if he is still associated with the school in any way now.

Yes, I said personal hero. Although we all know about Mr. Milken's time in jail and the record fines he paid, back in the 80s, his accomplishments are less well-reported. I believe he may be the largest individual contributor to prostate cancer research and I know his Foundation has sent many promising scholars to fine schools - ones that they would have been financially unable to attend, otherwise.

Whatever you think of his past misdeeds, I don't think one can deny that Mike Milken is a VERY intelligent man and a graduate of more than one of the Nation's top schools. Personally, I'd be intrigued by the idea of attending a business school he'd had something to do with... though, I suppose not everyone would agree!

(Then again, I'm NOT suggesting you make your enrolment decision based on your feelings about Mr. Milken. That would not be business-like, would it?)

Anyway, Aspen is 100% legit and I've read nothing adverse about them.

Cheers :-)
