I'm curious, whether anyone who has obtained a bachelors or masters online would share if it took them roughly the same amount of time as doing it in class, or if they shaved some time off it that way?
It's kind of hard to say,
If you take the major for example business administrator many colleges are willing to give it in a 2 year extensive program.
While other college will never think of giving it for less then 3 years.
Online university if you take 1 course at a time will just be too slow..
You need to take 3-4 a semester to earn enought credit for your degree.
Well in other words it depends how many courses you take a semester.

It has added time to my program, but that's only because I didn't hop on to one of the accelerated programs offered at one of the local universities here in town.

To me, yes I saved not only time - but $$$$ too.
I resumed the pursuit of my degree with 40 credits, both upper/lower level already attained. I then earned an additional 86 credits in just under 2 years with the vast majority coming from CLEP & DANTES exams.
On average each exam cost me around $150.00 on books, study materials and the cost of the exams themselves.

Wow, that sounds impressive ShotoJuku...Thanks for the insights everyone. It seems that in order to make it worth it, you need to be well organized, do your research, and plan ahead... I can see that one course at a time would be way too slow...

Starlily, you put it right. Obtaining a degree online is not as simple and fun as people assume it would be. It calls for more strict discipline and regularity than campus courses. The amount of effort you need to put is tremendous.

I just love the flexibility. Where else can you do your class time at one in the morning except on line.
I had some strange times for class when I was in college, but not quite that strange.

i think it does save time in the long run because you can do things that you aren't able to do going to school full time.
