I think that all depends on what you're looking for. Different schools offer different degree programs or different learning methods. That's why I'm doing my research, too. Trying to find the best place for what I want and how I learn. And for my money, haha.

May I ask, what are you returning to school for?

Lots of accelerated universities offer online classes too, so if there is a particular university which interest you then you may want to check with them to see if they have an online program.

I wish there was a resource where online programs were objectively rated. That would be nice to see.

I've been taking some continuing ed courses on line through this site. By going through my local colleges extension, though I save LOTS of money. They have a large number of classes, and the instructors I had have been very helpful.

My field is Animation and Game Design. What is the best online school for that, if there are any, does anyone know? I've been investigating Westwood. Has anyone heard anything about them? :?:

Hi -
Dunno much about game design, Kokotai - not my field - but there are many degree-granting schools that teach it. Have a look at University of Advancing Technology, in Arizona. They teach on-line and in-class - your choice.
They're ACICS-accredited (CHEA-recognized) and grant Associate, Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in your chosen field -and I think they're one of the first, if not the first, to award a Master's in game design.
I have no personal knowledge of the school, but Westwood has received negative reviews in this forum, including links to a rip-off report article, etc. Look at the "rate your institution" section and you'll find it.
You can find UAT at http://www.gamedegree.com and they also have a .edu domain. Beyond that, just Google "game design degree" and I'm sure you'll find lots! Good luck! :-)

Yeah, online courses are great for coninuing ed. I myself haven't had much luck finding something degreed that I want to do online, but I do know there is a lot available. Just make sure to check into a program completely BEFORE sending any money.

I am planning on going back to school and more likely I will be taking online education. I am going to find a college that focus on writing or the like.

Most of your local universities offer some form of English degree. There are lots of schools that offer MFA's in creative writing. If you want to write for a career, though, then I would suggest just finding some free or continuing ed courses and using those to spring board into a writing career.

I don't know but I can say that our community college is offering alot of online courses. Every year there are more and more. Even classes I never really thought you could take online are being offered now.

I love the two year colleges. They offer all sorts of stuff online and as continuing education courses. And they are usually much more reasonable price wise.

Do you think that it is possible to get a good job in editing or publishing, without an English degree? I am curious as there are so many options out there, and most of the editing jobs that I have seen advertised require a degree...

Be very careful about Westwood. I have vested the last year toward a BA in Network management and the Student finance office is incompetent at best larcenist at worse...
Hello!
I would like to study English language online and I would be very, very grateful if someone could recommend me a good school for that. I already work as an English teacher, but would prefer to also have a diploma.
I live in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Europe.
Thanks in advance!
