Personally, I haven't been so successful in finding financial aid while attending part time. Everything seems to be geared towards those folks who attend full time, which just isn't an option for me.

Depending on your degree (especially if its medical or education related) there are grants from private foundations available. Most of that information is available to you on line for free, you just have to keep digging.

I was able to get some aid while attending part time, I just had to make sure I was taking like, exactly one more credit than part time to qualify. :)

A great place to start is local social and community clubs. They often offer some type of help or they can if you give them reason. Then I would go to the local government level. Depending on where you live, they may offer some support. From there, I would just work my way up. Keep in mind that the higher you go, the more competition there is for the money.

You can go part time ( I did this myself) but the options available are limited and if you are going full time then choose to do part time you have to get in some extra paperwork before a deadline or face fines or repayment. Your best bet would be to contact the financial aid office and discuss your situation with them the semester before (like the beginning of the semester after registeration is over) and make sure you know exactly what the school policy is.

How and when you are going won't be as much of a factor in the private sector as it is in the regular funding routes most people take. And keep in mind that just because you get funding from one area doesn't mean you can't get it else where as well.

Usually, if you have scholarship grants/aid, you do are supposed to study full time coz that's the purpose of funding you, so that you will be able to study and maintain the grade that is expected of you.

Is it family that is keeping you from going full time? Or is it the money? If someone were to give you the money you needed tomorrow, what would you do? Write on a piece of paper how much you need. Now come up with ten ways to get that amount. Finally, come up with 10 ways to reach your goal - follow through.

I can't speak for other experiences but when I went to college, they said that I must go full time to get the fullest benefits of getting financial. I think that you can also get financial aid if you go part time if you are also involved in a work study program.

I'm sure every school has different programs. And some of your local clubs and churches might have programs as well. There are lots of sources for money, especially in the area of education. Just look around and don't be afraid to ask.
