I'm looking at the Paralagal Career Diploma programs at both Ashworth University and PennFoster.

I already have a bachelor's and some legal experience, and so my goal isn't to try and transfer any educational units anyplace else, but to get a more complete overview of the subject matter and to be updated a bit.

I also cannot be stuck in a program where you have semesters and specific due dates, and both of these programs are self paced, which works well for me. These two schools have tuitions set that are almost identical, so money is not a question, either.

All of that being said, I am having a difficult time choosing! Has anyone here been to either school? Has anyone here studied in either of these Paralegal courses? What is your experience with the school(s) in general? What about the course materials...which school gave you the best value for your money and which school's materials were the best to use?

I hope to make a decision within a week or so.

I would appreciate any information or opinions! Thanks!

I would say go with Penn Foster, its been around the longest, has a better reputation, but you may want to check with your state's licensing requirements to be a paralegal and see if they would accept the diploma from Penn Foster so you can become a licensed paralegal.

Hi -

Both are good and competitively-priced schools - suited for students who work well independently. Penn Foster HAS been around in one form or another since the 1890s - so by now, they pretty well know how to do their stuff!

Ashworth students mostly seem to like their school pretty well, too, but I've also read more "customer service" type complaints than with Penn Foster, mostly related to getting service or problem-resolution over the PHONE. Those were a while ago, so maybe they've improved or put more people on the phones - I don't know.

My personal choice: Penn Foster. (Longevity and customer service -but that's just me!) :-)
