Just a quick reminder to always check a school to see if any compliants have been filed againest a certain school. I have found this site useful when looking into schools.

http://www.bbb.org/

Just a friendly reminder

Yep, Although that there are many complients on BBB that they are not doing their job correct, and people are paying them to delete claims BBB is still a good sign of reliable and trusted business.

Another method, of check is Google, by writting in google search box:
"University name" Scam
Or
"College name" Ripoff
Or
DomainName.com Scam

Normaly you'll find in the results some people posting in various forums how they where miss treated.

Please take in consideration a University that holds 100,000 Students there will always be somone who complains. so take that staistics in consideration. :(

I always check for opinions on any large purchase, including school! A really good reference is http://www.studentsreview.com/

They have reviews for over 40,000 schools. A good place to check on a school that you don't know anything about.

While the BBB is a good site it shouldn't be the only site you use. I have found several businesses that should be listed that are not listed and when you have schools that are more scam than school they have a tendence to change names very often and might not be listed cause they might be too new to be reported yet. Personally I choose to stay with schools that were well established rather than going with a new school that had just opened up within the last few years.

I know of a few schools in my area that have opened their doors and closed all within a few years. While at least one was a scam and it took peoples money, turned out it wasn't as accredited as it claimed and people didn't get credit for 85% of what they took (the other colleges let them test out classes for credit), some of them just didn't have the business it took to stay in a good financial standing and had to close cause they had no money.

Yes, you are right about the BBB, but it is a good starting point. That review site you put up is great. I had never seen this one. Thank you.

If things are really bad, you will ususally get a few hits by just googling. In this age of cyber technology there are lots of sites dedicated to the complainings of those that have been wronged.

Yes, I'd have to agree, always verify, there's way too much spam about getting online degrees, that you wouldn't want to spend money on something useless.

Good advice, their are to many schools out there which have no interest but getting your money and running for the hills.

I would check ripoffreport before I would check BBB because it isnt reliable. I also use google to check to see if anyone have any complaints.

Having read so much about BBB, I am not sure if I can count on their credibility. I heard they bribe you to be entered into their good books. They themselves are now in many people's bad books. How can I be assured of their genuinity? For me, they are also another business minded group, making money online. What way are they better than the others?????
