On the other hand, a Department of Post-secondary Education would absolutely qualify as an industry watchdog, so it sounds like you may be in the clear. Remember, the word we're looking for is 'accreditation', not 'legal'. |

I understand your point. But, if you look at my post again, the words 'BSU' and 'mill' are nowhere to be found.

Actually, saying that BSU is a mill is not necessarily the same thing as saying that all unaccredited schools are mills.

BSU isn't a mill, so it's all good. I look at BSU as no different than self study in a library, with a nice certificate to hang on your wall.

Hi
I have no doubt of your intelligence, even though you remain adamantly loyal to BSU, in light of its recent woes. I believe you could succeed at any school you choose. Your attainments so far make that obvious. However, I hope you are VERY thick-skinned, as you may well need to be. As I (and people much smarter than I) have said - not everybody views a BSU degree as anywhere NEAR equal to well-aimed and rigorous self-study. I think that any school that loses an "easy" Alabama license through plain obstinacy (refusal to add sufficient general education subjects or to can the "self-designed" degrees) and hangs its hat in three states within a few weeks, after doing the double-spoof-accreditation shuffle - is probably far LESS conducive to actual learning than studying by oneself in the library! Why risk your money? Here's a better plan. It's not a good plan at all - just better than BSU. Make yourself a plan, then study in the library, as you suggested, thereby saving a few thousand dollars. Then, when you feel you've learned sufficiently (a feeling BSU may never be able to give you) for practically no cost, you can fire up your laser printer, choose a school name and end up with a FAR better-looking diploma than BSU can offer. As I said - not a good plan but better than BSU. Both diplomas are wall-hangers with no job prospects attached. Why not get the better-looking, cheaper one, with any name you want? If you apply yourself in the library, as I'm sure you are able, you'll likely have a better learning experience while you're at it! Johann Last edited by johann : 08-28-2008 at 09:13 PM. |
