Default Phony accrediting bodies & institutions

Please be aware of the website called "affordabledegrees.com" which claims to sell you legitimate diplomas & degrees (high school to Ph.D) only based on your experience. Prices range from $200 to $600. These guys are some serious scam artists.

Many of these phony accrediting agencies & schools are often operated by the same people. They establish new or different schools under different names, and some of those names are very similar to those of legitimately accredited schools (for example: Regis University in Denver is a real university, where as Saint Regis University is not).

List of a few phony accrediting agencies/bodies that accredit diploma mills:

1. Council for Distance Education Accreditation (CDEA)

But seriously, what degree(Bachelor/Master) was the thesis for? Just curious really. I always wondered about getting a degree from there before I became more educated about the subject of accreditation.

That's correct. Not in my tag line. You don't know how that promotes negativism in many who read that. After a while one gets tired of defending it.
I have no reason to proclaim the credential, but I do not hide the diploma. I have other credentials that I do not list also.
At the present, I would not recommend anyone enroll at WNU. If you want to do so, wait and see if they acquire accreditation. My guess is they will not receive NCA accreditation and will seek DETC after two years of operation under the new name.
My degree was in Electrical Engineering, the bachelors.

I was really only kidding about the tagline . I have never actually heard from someone who got a degree from KW(not a judgement). I am not asking you to defend, because I have no reason (or basis) to debate about the school, just wondering were there classes as well as the thesis? It is really just so I understand more about what the school offered before changing their name.

How better to learn than from someone who was actually a student.
Thanks Bill

Whatever you choose to list in your curriculum vitae - CV (aka: "tag line") is your business as long as it serves relevence - to you, so forget about what others think and whatever self-centered ridicule they have to dish out. If they don't like - tough crap!

Hell, I've been a proud member of the KISS ARMY for more than 30 years and heard a lot of crap but never once did I back down from any ridicule about my choice of bands. As Billy Joel says at the end of every show - "Don't take any s-h-i-t from anyone" and neither should you!

BTW: This is not directed at any particular member, I'm just adding my .02 cents and my comment(s) are meant to be delivered in a light-hearted tone.

Ok, I added KWU to my C.V.. Now for the debate!

I added the above statement because there are forums where the mention of the name brings out a pack of wolves that encircle you and gnaw on your tail until you go away.

Brian,
I'm sure we have had some dialogue before over at the Yahoo forum. It is nice to hear from you again. Thanks for the .02 cents of humorous inclusion in your post. I know CCU took the hit forever so long before they became accredited.

Yes, there were classes at KW, but as most will relate, far fewer than most universities. That was a question that puzzled me all the time I was going through the program, but they award credit for life experience ( that some think is absolutely wrong and is part of the cause for all the "Mill" stuff.
As you say, Brian, who cares. I'll never use the degree for anything anyway. It was something to consume my "Retirement Hours."

BTW, if anyone would want to read my KWU paper it is posted at:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/PennFostercollege/
along with all the other "Stuff" I have written and posted in the "Files" section.

Question Was this a real college??

We are getting ready to have an expert speak at one of our events... He states that he received his Doctrates degree at Columbus University, School of Public Administration; Metairie, Louisiana.

Someone told me this is a college that closed down???
