Default Canterbury University Link

BTW, here is the link to the University's website (I believe):

http://www.canterburyuniv.com/

There is also a Wikipedia discussion about it. Incidentally, no one is entirely sure that Canterbury University is / was associated with the Canterbury University of Seychelles.

Additionally, there needs to be a discussion on accreditation. It IS accredited. Much to my dismay, I found that it isn't viewed as having the accreditation which is accepted by many organizations in the USA. I wish I'd known that BEFORE I went to all the trouble to get my degrees there. I'd heard of this university through a colleague and really put a lot of effort into these degrees.

Maybe it was not earlier, but TODAY Canterbury University definitely is a diploma mill. http://www.instantdegrees.com/ Pay them 90 $ and you'll receive a diploma, sent from an adress in Portugal : Barcode Track Delivery Apt 33, 3031-801 CEIRA PORTUGAL.
It is really a pity for those, who worked for, and earned their degree in an honest way "in the good old days"

Edit :
But what about THIS Canterbury, (in Ireland?) is this one also a diploma mill ??? http://www.canterburyuniv.com/

What I think is allot of confusion on this forum about whom is whom in Canterbury. All the research I have read over the last several years pertains to the only phony University of Canterbury in the Seychelles. NOT....I say...NOT Canterbury University. I have no dog in this race but, I do see an aweful injustice running its course here in confusion of facts and fiction. I have spent allot of time in the UK and have actually been to several campuses of Canterbury University and several other Universities while employed as a recruiter for my company. Canterbury does offer distance learning with some inhouse lab work hours required on campus. So, please get it right, you are hurting the university and yourself in posting half gained knowledge. Do your research or let the pro's do it. Again.....Canterbury University diplomas are valid, accredited, sanctioned by the UK government with campuses all over the UK, in various studies. I s***est you visit them and quit causing confusion with Seychelles.

The one-posts might be because the students who actually obtained their degrees through the University aren't investigators, but students. I also attended Canterbury in 2000. So far all the posts made by people claiming to be students have all been in the year 2000, which leads me to believe they were probably in the same classes as myself.

I'm interested in visiting the UK again soon and would love to find out if the same school that was around back then is still around now. It would be horrible if their name is being used for a diploma mill (I assume thats a fake diploma, not a real one).

Are there any previous graduates that have attended since 2000?

Colleges care more about transcripts than a framed copy of your degree. I can get my transcripts sent to the college I apply to for my Masters because I actually got a degree there. I doubt a fake University can back up your scores and coursework.

If someone wants a fake degree, they don't need to buy it, they can make one with Photoshop, so why not just say you went to whatever school you want to, instead of claiming it was a real college that others can corroborate?

In reality most degree mills offer "verification services" on purpose.

I just graduated from Canterbury University myself. This is my first post but I'd be more than happy to provide you with my email, phone number - and it doesn't take a 'Detective' to find my user name all across otherboards on the WWW.

I graduated February 2009. The middle of the degree has a Coat of Arms - transcripts also I have.. this is NOT fake.. It's sad people rip off.. yet the rip offs more than likely don't have transcripts... anyone with a fancy printer can make a degree.

I also got a degree from University of Phoenix - and Canterbury was much more work.

A school with unaccredited programs is not necessarily a diploma mill. Here’s a link to make the determination for yourselves: http://www.degree.net/html/diploma_mills.html

The provided link was very informative Although, how does an employer actually determine if a presented Diploma/Transcripts are real or fake from International schools ? Our company hires people from all walks of life and various countries and sometimes find it very time consuming and endless to make these determinations. Please explain. Thanks,
