Default California State has a new school licensing/ Accreditation law

by John Bear on Mon Oct 12, 2009 4:43 am

So now California has a school licensing law. http://gov.ca.gov/press-release/13564/

You can read the legislative analysis and the full text here: http://tinyurl.com/ygwl8ga

Now, let the analyses begin.

(d) It is the intent of the Legislature in enacting this chapter
to ensure all of the following:
(1) Minimum educational quality standards and opportunities for
success for California students attending private postsecondary
schools in California.

(2) Meaningful student protections through essential avenues of
recourse for students.
(3) A regulatory structure that provides for an appropriate level
of oversight.
(4) A regulatory governance structure that ensures that all
stakeholders have a voice and are heard in policymaking by the new
bureau created by this chapter.
(5) A regulatory governance structure that provides for
accountability and oversight by the Legislature through program
monitoring and periodic reports.
(6) Prevention of the deception of the public that results from
conferring, and use of, fraudulent or substandard degrees.

(e) The Legislature advises future policymakers to continually and
carefully evaluate this chapter and its administration and
enforcement. Where there are deficiencies in the law or regulatory
oversight, the Governor and the Legislature should act quickly to
correct them.

So then.......

1. Who will be the first unaccredited school to register/apply as prescribed by the new "BPPE" law?

-and-

2. Who will be the first unaccredited school to leave California?

-and-

3. What unaccredited school will stay put in California and do absolutely nothing?

Hello everybody,

This is good to hear that finally California has a law to deal with the unaccredited schools. I am wondering what will be the status of Dr. Maxine Asher's American World University now, they would stay at same or leaving to another state to run their phony schools. Anyhow the State of Californis should have taken this step a long long time before to save the student's money and the future.
